অসমৰ মানচেষ্টাৰ খ্যাত বস্ৰনগৰী শুৱালকুছিৰ তিনিখন গাঁও পঞ্চায়ত সামৰি লোৱা এখনি বৃহত্তম গাঁও। গাঁওখনৰ প্ৰায় ৯০ শতাংশ বাসিন্দাই হস্ততাঁতত বস্ত্ৰ উৎপাদন জীৱিকাৰ মূল উৎস হিচাপে গ্ৰহণ কৰি আহিছে আৰু শিপিনী কাৰ্যৰে নিজকে স্বাৱলম্বিত কৰি এক উন্নত স্বাভিমানী জীৱন-যাপন কৰি আহিছে । কিন্তু বৰ্তমানৰ বিশ্বায়নৰ যুগত গাঁওখনৰ হস্ততাত বস্ত্ৰ শিল্পটিক বিভিন্ন সমস্যাই গ্ৰাস কৰিব ধৰাত বিশেষকৈ অসমৰ বহি: ৰাজ্যৰ পৰা আমদানি কৃত মেখেলা চাদৰৰ পয়োভৰে শিল্পটোৰ লগত জড়িত স্থানীয় আৰু অসমৰ বিভিন্ন কোণৰ পৰা প্ৰব্ৰজিত শিপিনীসকলৰ জীৱিকাৰ ক্ষেত্ৰখনত পানীত হাঁহ নচৰা লেখীয়া অৱস্থাৰ সৃষ্টি হোৱা ফলত বিগত ইংৰাজী ২৯ মাৰ্চ ২০১৩ চনৰ দিনাখন শুৱালকুছিবাসী ৰাইজে এক গণআন্দোলনৰ পাতনি মেলে আৰু পৰৱৰ্তী আন্দোলনৰ বিভিন্ন কাৰ্যসূচী ৰূপায়নৰ মাজতে বিভিন্ন সময়ত চৰকাৰী বিভাগীয় কৰ্তৃপক্ষৰ লগত আলোচনাৰ জৰিয়তে শিল্পটোৰ ভৱিষ্যত নিৰাপত্তাৰ স্বাৰ্থত লোৱা বিভিন্ন কাৰ্যপন্থাত কাম কৰাৰ বাবে এটি অনুষ্ঠানৰ প্ৰয়োজন আহি পৰাত ২০১৩ চনৰ ৮ জুন তাৰিখে স্থানীয় শ্ৰী শ্ৰী শংকৰদেৱ ধাম প্ৰাঙ্গগত এখনি ৰাজহুৱা সভা অনুষ্ঠিত কৰি "শুৱালকুছি তাঁত শিল্প উন্নয়ন সমিতি" নামেৰে ৰাইজে এটি অনুষ্ঠানৰ জন্ম দিয়ে আৰু অনুষ্ঠানটোৰ কাম- কাজ পৰিচালনাৰ বাবে নিম্নোক্ত এখনি ৩৫ জনীয়া কাৰ্যকৰী কমিটি বাচনি কৰি দিয়ে ।

পিছলৈ সভাপতি শ্ৰী ৰমেশ চন্দ্র দাসৰ মহাপ্রয়াণ হোৱাত জ্যেষ্ঠ কার্যবাহী সদস্য শ্রী বিপিন চন্দ্র দাসক ভাৰপ্ৰাপ্ত সভাপতি হিচাপে দায়িত্ব দিয়া হয়। সম্পাদক শ্ৰী অজয় মড়ল নিষ্ক্রিয় হৈ পৰে আৰু আন এগৰাকী সম্পাদক শ্রী হীৰালাল কলিতাই পদত্যাগ কৰে। বিত্ত সম্পাদক দ্বয়ো পিছলৈ নিষ্ক্রিয় হৈ পৰাত প্ৰচাৰ সম্পাদক দুগৰাকী ক্ৰমে শ্রী দিগন্ত কলিতা আৰু শ্রী দিলীপ কুমাৰ বৈশ্যক বিত্ত সম্পাদকৰ অতিৰিক্ত দ্বায়িত্ব দিয়া হয়।-
Assam’s famous Manchester & handloom city Sualkuchi is a largest village covering three gram panchayats. Since a very long time, almost 90 % households of this village taking handloom production as a main source of livelihood and living a highly dignified life by making themselves self-reliant engaging in handloom activities. But, this handloom craftsmanship of this village is facing various challenges in the age of globalization, especially due to availability of imported mekela-sadar from outside the state which is creating a havoc in the livelihood ecosystem for the artisan/weaver of local as well as weaver comes from different part of the state to the situation which can describe as “পানীত হাঁহ নচৰা লেখীয়া অৱস্থা (the happening of the greatest calamity)” Because of which, community of Sualkuchi had started a citizen movement on 29th March 2013 and aroused a necessity of an organization to formulate different plans for future course of action like discussing with concern officials of different government department for safeguarding the future of the handloom craftsmanship of Sualkuchi. Accordingly, “Sualkuchi Tat Silpa Unnayan Samiti” was formed in a public meeting on 8th June 2013 at the premise of “Sri Sri Sankardev Dham” in Sualkuchi and a 35 member working committee was constituted to run the organization.

Sri Akhil Gogoi is an Indian peasant leader, RTI activist, and Member of Assam Legislative Assembly from Sibsagar since 2021. He is also the founder and president of Raijor Dal since 2020. However, “Sualkuchi Tat Silpa Unnayan Samiti” (STSUS) is not linked with his political party or any other organization.
A team of founder members of Sualkuchi Tat Silpa Unnayan Samiti (STSUS) approached Sri Akhil Gogoi to provide advice during the heavy public protest in Sualkuchi in the year 2013.
Bipin Chandra Das, Gakul Kalita, Jitendra Baishya, Tapan Kalita, Alakesh Medhi, Khanin Kumar Das, Dhiraj Baishya, Deep Baishya, Hitlal Thakuria, Dhareshwar Das, Arup Das, Sewali Baishya, Kumud Thakuria, Dhareswar Das, Nagen Chandra Kalita, Biju Baishya, Sarada Devi, Kanak Lal Choudhury, Bipin Das and Bimal Baishya.
After demise of Sri Ramesh Chandra Das, senior working member Sri Bipin Chandra Das was given the responsibility of president. Later, Secretary Sri Ajay Moral has become inactive and another secretary Sri Hira Lal Kalita has resigned. Both the finance secretaries have become inactive and additional responsibility of finance has been conferred to the publicity secretaries.
